Description of research and teaching

I started my PhD study from November 2010 with the major objective of unravelling new regulators of cell death, defense signaling and stomatal regulation under abiotic stress by using QTL mapping and next generation DNA sequencing.


Ozone has been considered to be the most harmful air pollutant to plants and reduce the photosynthesis and speed up the senescence. It also elicits similar changes in gene expression induced by biotic and abiotic stress. The general idea of my PhD studies is to uncover more regulators of plant responses to environmental stresses by using RIL population of two Arabidopsis ecotypes C24 and Tenela, which has been found to exhibit different ozone sensitivity. 


As a member of Mikael Brosché’s group, I’m interested in plant senescence and the role of salicylic acid and Ca2+ involved in senescence and ozone signaling. And I will work with defense signaling include screening for double mutants and gene expression profiling in Arabidopsis thaliana, additionally, I will characterize genes and gene networks that function in ozone and other abiotic stress in Arabidopsis, etc.
