Description of research and teaching

I have a strong background in aerosol science, especially experimental work with atmospheric aerosol particles and air ions. Currently, my main collaborators are physicists, chemists, meteorologists and biologists at the University of Helsinki and University of Turku, Finland; University of Tartu, Estonia; Finnish Meteorological Institute, Finland; Jülich Research Institute, Germany, and Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research, Germany. Within the aerosol science, I have a wide experience in international research projects: coordinating working groups and performing field measurements, and instrument and protocol development as a lead scientist.

My research interest lies in linking two fields of Physics: atmospheric electricity and atmospheric aerosols. I enjoy most the cross-disciplinary research. I am interested to build up my own, independent research and to establish continuous atmospheric electricity measurements. The aim is to support the on-going aerosol-cloud measurements and the existing data bases to study the suggested interactions between atmospheric electricity, aerosols, and cloud properties.
