Jaakko Leppänen

Description of research and teaching

My PhD work is related to zooplankton and pollution. I am studying the impacts of mine pollution on cladoceran communities today and in the past. I begun the PhD research in 2015. My other subjects of interest are GIS and 3D modeling. I am a certified scientific (AESD) and commercial (IDSA*) diver, with over a decade of experience on occupational research diving in environments ranging from riverine rapids and under ice diving to zero visibility sea conditions. In addition to research diving, I have worked in numerous popular science projects in that field; e.g. online exhibition (in finnish) and a textbook (in finnish).
