Description of research and teaching

I completed my M.Sc. in bioinformatics/computer sciences at the University of Turku in early 2008. I joined the prof. Liisa Holm's bioinformatics group in 2007 where I also made my master’s thesis. I graduated from the ILS doctoral school in 2014 as a PhD while I worked in both prof. Liisa Holm's and prof. Ilkka Hanski's research groups. I joined the MRG in 2010 and I worked with the Glanville fritillary butterfly genome and genetics until the end of 2012. Nowadays I work at the Saimaa Ringed Seal genome project, where my resposibilites are bioinformatics analysis and other postdoc tasks.

My research is related to genomic annotation in quite wide range. Before the Melitae Cinxia and Pusa Hispida Saimensis genomes I have worked in multiple bacterial genome projects. I have experience from all stages of genome projects. My special interest is in functional annotation, which was also the topic of my PhD thesis.
