Salmi-Niklander) is a multi-disciplinary project focusing on difficult memories and diverse identities related with conflicts in Russia, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Germany and Turkey. It addresses the questions: How can people live together after violent conflicts and with traumatic memories? How is it possible to allow difficult memories instead of silencing them? Senior Researcher & Principal Investigator (PI), 1.10.2017-30.4.2018 (40 %), 1.5.2018-31.5.2018 (80 %) Break the Fight! tour and modelling project 1.1.2017-31.12.2018 (Finnish Cultural Foundation, Intomieliset ry.) brings “Break the Fight- I was here!” dance performances and workshops to schools in Finland, to discuss nonviolence. Post-doctoral researcher, FYRN team leader, and scientific work-package coordinator (WP3 Youth political engagement), Finnish Youth Research Network (FYRN), Helsinki, 1.1.2014–31.8.2016 (20 %), 1.9.2016-31.12.2016 (100 %) The SAHWA Project (2014-2016), Researching Arab Mediterranean Youth: Towards a New Social Contract (no. 613174, FP7, European Union), brings together 15 partners from Europe and Arab Mediterranean countries to research youth prospects and perspectives in a context of multiple social, economic and political transitions in five countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon). The thematic axes around which the project revolves are social inclusion, political mobilization and participation, culture and values, international migration and mobility, gender, public policies and international cooperation. Post-doctoral researcher, Finnish Youth Research Network (FYRN), Helsinki, 1.10.2012–31.8.2016 (80 %) Consortium project Youth and Political Engagement in Contemporary Africa (YoPo). This research consortium examines political processes and opportunities for engagement from the perspective of young people in Africa. Consortium partners include the Finnish Youth Research Network (FYRN) and the University of Helsinki, First Development Studies, and (since 1 January 2015) the Swedish School of Social Science (SSKH, Sociology).
