I joined Metapopulation Research Group in March 2010 as a research trainee under Dr. Rainer Lehtonene when I was doing my master degree. Since then, I have been involving in SNP genotyping projects for the Glanville fritillary butterfly. I have developed a systematic pipe-line in SNP assay designing, as well as an analysis tools for SNP data processing. I graduated from my master degree in June 2011, and started my PhD at the same year in Metapopulation Research Group under the supervision of Dr. Rainer Lehtonen and Prof. Ilkka Hanski.

 

Research

My current research interest is statistical genetic studies for quantitative traits using family data in a metapopulation setting. The main research organism in my study in the Glanville fritillary butterfly from Åland archipelago in Finland. In my master study, I performed statistical test to determine genetic factors which affect flight metabolic rates of the Glanville fritillary. For my PhD study, I continue with quantitative genetics, and also compare experiment data among the Glanville fritillary from different network to detect the genetic factors which contribute to the performance differences. In my PhD, I also aim to develop statistical and Bioinformatics tools to ease the research process.
