Description of research and teaching

My research focuses on utilizing nanotechnology and physico-chemical analysis techniques (e.g. SPR and QCM) for developing complementary and alternative in vitro methodologies for existing biological assays for preclinical drug research and discovery purposes. I was awarded a 5 year Academy Research Fellow position in August 2010 for research on molecularly controlled cell surface models as a platform for targeted drug and gene delivery and release optimization.
Apart from collaborating closely with CDR I also collaborate with departments from several national and international universities (e.g. Åbo Akademi, Aalto University, Tampere University of Technology, and University of Montreal) and companies (e.g. Bionavis Ltd, Biolin Scientific Oy and Accurion GmbH).
I am lecturing in the advanced Physical Pharmacy course. I integrate my research into teaching by supervising master´s and PhD students within my research focus areas.
