Curriculum Vitae

Timo Laiho (born 1957) is a composer and music analyst. He received his master degree at the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki of composition and music theory. Laiho’s compositions have received awards in several composition competitions in Finland and abroad. During the years 2007–2012 he has worked as a researcher at the Department of Philosophy, History Culture and Art Studies—Faculty of Arts, Musicology in the University of Helsinki. His PhD titled as "Perception, Time and Music Analysis – An Introduction to Analytic-Generative Methodology (AGM)" considers musical structures especially from a point of view of their perceptual and temporal organization.

Research interests: musical perception and cognition; music analysis, performance and composition; poststructural philosophy; semiotics and linguistics; David Bohm's "implicate order" theory; modern physics.
