Virpi Marjaana Perunka


Description of research and teaching

I am a PhD student in Egyptology, specialising in Egyptian archaeology. My main research deals with ancient Egyptian ceramics, dating to the Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom. My other research interests include: distributional and spatial studies on ceramics and pottery as a socio-economical indicator, settlement archaeology in Egypt, the concept of sacred space in ancient Egypt and application of archaeological theory to ancient Egyptian data as well as archaeological methodology. I also work as a extra-staff teacher in Egyptology, teaching courses in Egyptian archaeology and history.
